CABE FAQs

Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) is a member-focused organisation that brings like-minded professionals together. We are an internationally recognised professional body; membership of CABE shows your peers, employers and the public that you are a competent and ethical professional who can be relied upon to strive for the highest possible standards.

A Building Engineer is a competent, professionally qualified, experienced individual with a critical understanding of the interaction of buildings and people. Building Engineers collaborate to deliver better outcomes for everyone. Using rigorous professional judgement, they understand and manage the complex interplay of materials, technologies, systems and services to improve the function and performance of new and existing buildings.

Building Engineers operate across the life-cycle of the built environment encompassing the design, build, maintenance and repurposing of the spaces and places where we live, work and interact.

CABE Members work in over 55 countries including the UK, Hong Kong, Malaysia and New Zealand. Their acceptance into membership with CABE demonstrates to employers and the public that they are highly skilled competent professionals.

All CABE Members must adhere to the Association’s Code of Professional Conduct and Guide to Ethical Professionalism as part of their commitment to membership. This has been established to lay down, for members and the general public, the professional and ethical standards by which its members should abide. The code applies to all members, irrespective of grade, the professional role they fulfil, and the countries in which they practise.

Please contact us and we will be able to confirm the status of a member.
