Member Logos, Post-Nominal & Descriptor Usage Guidelines

Make the most of your CABE membership by highlighting your competence and your dedication to high standards by using your CABE Member logo and designatory letters.

Individual Members

As a CABE member, you are encouraged to use the appropriate CABE Member logo and designatory letters to promote your achievement.

Designatory Letters

Your designatory letters are indicative of your professionalism, and using them highlights your competence to your employer, colleagues and clients.

Furthermore, they demonstrate your commitment to Continual Professional Development (CPD) and your dedication to the industry. 

Each grade of membership has corresponding designatory letters, and we recommend that you display them with pride after any academic qualifications that you hold.

Additional Registrations

 

Engineering Council and Higher-Risk Building Registrations

Engineering Council registrants can use the additional designations to further demonstrate your commitment to competence:

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng)
  • Incorporated Engineer (IEng)
  • Engineering Technician (EngTech)
     

If you have passed the Higher-Risk Building (HRB) assessment, use your additional descriptor
to evidence your enhance competence to work on Higher-Risk Build
ings:

  • Chartered Engineer (HRB)
  • Incorporated Engineer (HRB)
  • Engineering Technician (HRB)
     

 

Society for the Environment 

Society for the Environment registrants can use additional designations to highlight your enhance dedication and commitment to sustainable practices:

  • Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv)
  • Registered Environmental Practitioner (REnvP)
  • Registered Encironmental Technician (REnvTech)
     

 

Residential Surveyors Section 

Successfully passing the Residential Surveyors Section assessment allows you to use an additional descriptor*
alongside your CABE Membership designation:

  • Residential Surveyor
  • Associate Residential Surveyor
  • Technician Residential Surveyor

 

*Please note: you are not permitted to use the term Chartered Surveyor this is a RICS designation and is protected by law, and any misuse could subject you to legal action.

 


 

Member Logo

To further highlight your achievement, use the CABE membership logo (relevant to your grade) to showcase your expertise.

 

The membership logo can be used on your:

  • personal e-mail signature
  • personal business cards
  • personal stationery, and 
  • social media accounts.


As membership is individual to you, you are unable to use the logo on your company's website unless you are a sole trader (see section below).

Sole Traders

Sole Traders

If you are a sole trader, you can use your member logo on your company website and on your company stationery.

This is in addition to being able to use the membership logo for your:

  • personal e-mail signature
  • personal business cards
  • personal stationery, and 
  • social media accounts.

 


 

Company Descriptor Header

 

Using the Company Descriptor – Chartered Building Engineers

If you own a company with at least one other Chartered Building Engineer, you can choose to use the company descriptor Chartered Building Engineers to describe your practice.

This company description indicates your company’s commitment to high professional standards to your clients helping you to stand out from your competitors.

 

The company descriptor can be used on your company’s:

  • website
  • social media
  • signage and livery; and
  • stationery.

 

If you chose to add this company descriptor, it should be noted that you are not permitted to display your designatory letters, or the CABE logo alongside the descriptor.

Academic Partners

Academic Partners are encouraged to use the CABE Academic Partner logo and the wording CABE Academic Partner to highlight the collaborative work between the institution and the industry.

Academic Partners can use the logo and the wording on their:

  • website
  • business stationery
  • course brochures/leaflets
  • e-mail signatures
  • letterhead paper; and
  • education institutes social media including LinkedIn Certifications.
 
Accredited Courses

Raise the profile of your accredited courses by using the CABE Accredited Course Logo on promotional activities. 

Using the CABE Accredited Logo is confirmation to potential students that the course has gone through rigorous external validation and meet the needs of the students providing them with the skills they need for a career in the construction industry.


You can use the CABE Accredited Course logo:

  • alongside the course description on your website, 
  • on prospectus’, leaflets and brochures; or 
  • social media in connection with the courses.

As a CABE Company Partner you can use the appropriate company partner logo on the following:

  • company website

  • signboards; and

It must be noted that the logo must not be used to promote or endorse any product or service but can be used to highlight your commitment to professional competence. 

 


 

Guidelines


All CABE Members, Company Partners and Academic Partners, must read and agree to abide by the logo guidelines below before the logo is issued. All logos can be requested here.

Do's and Don'ts GraphicLogo Do's and Don'ts

To use any of the CABE logos you must:

  • be a current member/partner of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers
  • use the correct logo for your grade of membership or partnership
  • use the logo to highlight your commitment to professional competence.
  • abide by CABE’s Code of Professional Conduct and  Guide to Ethical Professionalism
  • comply with the obligations set out in CABE’s Regulations and  Bylaws
  • not use the logo to promote or endorse a product and/or a service.
  • not alter the logo without CABE’s permission
  • not use the logo in a manner that could bring CABE into disrepute; or
  • not use the logo in a manner that could bring the profession into disrepute
  • not use the logo in a manner where it can be reasonably interpreted that your company/academic institution is regulated by CABE.
 
Designatory Letters Do's and Don'ts

To use your CABE designatory letters you must:

 
Using Chartered Building Engineers as a company descriptor Do's and Don'ts


Companies owned by at least two Chartered Building Engineers are encouraged to use the company descriptor Chartered Building Engineers

If a change in ownership occurs, resulting in less than two Chartered Building Engineers owning the company then the use of the company descriptor Chartered Building Engineers should cease and be remove from all relevant places within six weeks.

 


 

Format and style

All logos are available as either .jpg .png or .eps formats.

The colour of the logo must not be altered in any way, if you require a white version or the logo in a different colour, please contact the CABE Marketing Department with an explanation of how you intend to use it for approval of its use.


The clearance area of the horizontal logo must be relative to the size of the logo and is, therefore, equal to the width of either x2 or x1 of the negative space circle section within the logomark. To preserve legibility, the horizontal logo should never be shown smaller than 30mm wide.


 
CABE Board Members/Regional Committees/International Chapter Committees

CABE Board members, Regional Committees and International Chapter Committees can use the CABE logo during their role. It must not be used on any activity undertaken outside the remit of your role on the board or committee and must clearly state your role for the Association and your designations for example Vice-President, VPCABE.

Uses could include:

  • official documentation
  • communication to members; or
  • during official CABE events.

It must not be used on any activity undertaken outside the remit of the board/committee and should not be used to endorse any product or service.

 

CABE Benevolent Fund Trustees
Trustees of the CABE Benevolent Fund are entitled to use the CABE Benevolent Fund logo in relation to their role. It must not be used on any activity undertaken outside the remit of the charity and should not be used to endorse any product or service.
