Sam Chu - Chairman
Sam Chu has been Chairman of CABE Singapore Chapters since 2019. Being a Fellow member of CABE UK has widen the horizon not only to build physical built asset but also provide continual learning to Building Engineers through training leading to improved competency with ethical values meaningfully as an outcome.
Our Committee comprises of talented discipline ranging from Construction, Interior Fitting out, Mediator, Consultants and Contract Administrator. With our dedicated committee members, this coming years will holds many exciting possibility and opportunities. The key to unlock the industry notion as “fragmented and low productivity” lies in our ability to enhance partnership globally by leveraging the power of collaboration. Assured competency and professionalism with ethical code of conduct as a Building Engineer shall become a culture, together we can impact a Change the way we build, “a journey”.
To be associated with CABE UK, Rethinking Construction 2020 is timely with further improvement with the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic with New Norm.
Tan Bee Loke – Treasurer
Forty years of experience in the built environment as a Resident Technical Officer formerly known as "Clerk-of-Works". Act as a Site Supervisor appointed by Qualified Person (QP) following the Singapore Building Control Act.
I have overseen, supervised and inspected many construction projects with more than Sixty Residential dwelling houses, Twenty Factories, Five Electrical Power sub-station, Two number sixty metre high duo-cell cement silos.
During my free time, I actively a Grassroots leader (GRL) volunteer with the People Association. Now, I am Vice-Chairman for the Nee Soon Central's Community Emergency and Engagement Committee. We help strengthen community resilience during times of emergencies.
GRL volunteer help to bring the people and government closer, gathering feedback from the residents, implement the government’s social programme and help to explaining government policies to residents, as well as helping those in need, so as to strengthen racial harmony and social cohesion in our community.
Through continued learning, I have attended night and weekend classes to obtain a BSc in Project Construction Management with Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh, Scotland from 2014 - 2016. Additionally, I earned my BSc (Hons) in Construction Management with Liverpool John Moores University in 2018.
As the Singapore Chapter's treasurer since 2019, I sincerely hope to engage our members by providing a platform to share knowledge on the Built Environment, able to organise CPD programs and networking session. A platform to update any latest events from our Hong Kong and UK office.
Aye Myat Thu – Secretary
Aye Myat Thu, also known as Jin, began her career as a building engineer as well as cost engineer, with the background of Diploma in Building Technology and BA in English, in construction company. Passionate and having acquired extensive experiences in building engineering, she then decided to venture into quantity surveying and project management by attaining a Degree from Heriot Watt University in Construction Project Management. In addition to that, she further enhanced herself by achieving a certificate in Contract Administration from Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers and became a technical member since 2016.
With 19 years of experiences specialising not only building engineering but also quantity surveying and contract administration, the involvements are in negotiation and decision making with client, consultants and contractors in all aspects of construction project particularly cost and contract administration matters.
She has been a member of CABE since 2015 and is the current Secretary for Singapore chapter. She is willing to contribute her best and deliver the content of the association in practising association’s code of professional conduct globally.
