The Building Safety Regulator (BSR) has issued an October newsletter containing several updates of interest to CABE Members, summarised below:

Building Control Gateway 2 update

To tackle a backlog of stalled building control applications, the BSR introduced streamlining measures and so-called pilot processes in order to accelerate Gateway 2 sign-offs. The Regulator has now released specifics to demonstrate the positive impact these measures have been having – find the update via the Making Buildings Safer website.

Article on critical checkpoint

The BSR has published a guide to Gateway 3, the last and most critical stage “where the new building safety regime delivers its ultimate test”. The article explains what this gateway is, what developers must provide and the legal requirements for passing through it, and why it matters so much as a safety barrier prior to the occupation of a residential higher-risk building (HRB).

Access this guidance here.

Further guidance and resources

A resource page has been published by the BSR which offers access to existing building safety guidance, the duties of Accountable Persons in HRBs, and professional codes and standards for building control inspectors and approvers.

It also details the full life-cycle of HRBs, from approval applications to completion certificates.

Take a look via the Resources web page.
