This two-day course is aimed at both new and experienced professionals in fire safety assessment and inspection. It focuses on the practical application of the Fire Safety in Purpose-Built Blocks of Flats Guide and relevant British standards including Fire Safety in the Design, Management and use of Residential Buildings: BS 9991 and Approved Documents. Through lectures and interactive sessions led by experienced fire risk assessors, you will learn the principles for assessing fire risk in flats and when to consult experts.

Completing the Principles of Fire Safety course beforehand is recommended to ensure you have the basic knowledge on fire science, human behaviour in fire, fire safety and the associated legislation.

Fire Safety in Purpose Built Flats

Development Outcomes

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • understand the reason for and the requirements of passive fire safety measures within a purpose-built block of flats
  • understand the reason for and the requirements of active fire Safety measures in a purpose-built block of flats
  • understand how the external coverings on a block of flats can contribute to fire spread across the outside face of a block of flats
  • understand the reason for and the requirements of the firefighter access and facilities provided within and around a block of flats; and
  • understand the critical role of management in maintaining the above measures and ensuring the building responds appropriately in the event of fire.
     

 

Pre-Enrolment

The Principle of Fire Risk Assessment in Purpose-Built Flats course is aimed at learners who already have a base level understanding of the principles of fire safety, fire science, fire behaviour and human behaviour in fire.

To ensure learners are at the correct level to undertake the course, we suggest you enrol in the Principles of Fire Safety course, to ensure you can keep pace with the lessons.

If you cannot attend your booking you must notify us in writing, as soon as possible, by emailing training@cbuilde.com. Provided that written notice is received no later than 14 days prior to the date of the course we will be able to offer you either a full refund, a transfer onto another date or you may nominate a substitute to attend the event in your absence.
