CABE Benevolent Fund is here to assist CABE members, retired members and their family members, or dependants, in times of hardship.

 

If you are having financial difficulty the CABE Benevolent Fund may be able to assist you, for example help due to:

  • unemployment as a result of injury or illness
  • your home becoming damaged or requires modifications due to a disability
  • your family separation; or
  • suffering a bereavement.

 

They can also offer advice and provide contact details of other organisations, or services, who may be able to provide help.

Anxiety UK

The Benevolent Fund has partnered with the charity, Anxiety UK, and now offer independent assistance to people struggling with their mental health. 

Anxiety UK has a strong reputation in the provision of support and a long history of working with benevolent funds like ours. They have an expert team of medical advisors based throughout the UK, who can provide guidance for people who are struggling with anxiety, stress, and anxiety-based depression.

Will Writing

Having a will in place determines how your assets are distributed in the event of your death. Writing a will can seem like a daunting prospect, so the Benevolent Fund has pulled together some resources to help you navigate the process.

Debt Support

If you are struggling with debt, or are facing financial difficulties, it can be difficult to know where to turn to get support and advice. 

The CABE Benevolent Fund supports members to prevent them getting into increased debt and helping to prevent further hardship, undue distress and worry. 

The support available includes paying for the services of a debt management company which can help them to regain control of their finances. (Access to debt management support would not normally apply to Members’ dependents).

How does the fund help?

The fund can assist through a variety of financial endowments or plans in order to help you make ends meet. This may come in the form of a specific sum to relieve distress or hardship, a grant or allowance for medical treatment or care, periodic allowances to ease hardship or a loan to meet a specific or temporary need. From time to time the CABE Benevolent Fund may provide funding to vulnerable individuals, and therefore, has a Safeguarding Policy in place.

How does the fund operate?

The CABE Benevolent Fund is an independent, registered charity founded in 1963 as the ‘IAAS Benevolent Fund’. The Fund is administered under a Scheme approved by the Charity Commissioners which provides for the appointment of Trustees who are members of CABE.

The fund is kept running by the generous donations and legacies of CABE members, as well as some fundraising activities carried out by both the Association and its members.
