Scotland: call for public feedback on government’s draft Environment Strategy

The Scottish Government invites members of the public to make their voices heard on its current Environment Strategy by taking part in a newly opened consultation.

As per the Environment and Forestry Directorate, the strategy outlines transformative opportunities, including:

• restoring and regenerating biodiversity
• reducing pollution and waste
• supporting national net zero targets
• minimising Scotland’s environmental footprint globally

It also highlights key government initiatives designed to:

• accelerate the shift to a circular economy by promoting the reuse and repurposing of materials
• expand renewable energy generation and drive industrial decarbonisation, with independent analysis from Ernst & Young (EY) suggesting that - with the right support - Scotland’s low-carbon and renewable energy sector could sustain nearly 80,000 jobs by 2050
• restore nature through projects like those funded by the Nature Restoration Fund, which also boost physical and mental wellbeing by improving access to green spaces

Take part in the consultation on the draft by visiting the Scottish Government website here.

The survey is only open until 25 September 2025, so be sure to take up this opportunity to have your say.
