Environmental professionals gathered on 4 June to celebrate the achievements of those going above and beyond through the Society for the Environment Awards 2025.
More than 8,500 environmental professionals meet the required standard to highlight their environmental and sustainability expertise as a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), Registered Environmental Practitioner (REnvP) or Registered Environmental Technician (REnvTech), but some warrant further recognition and are commended via the annual SocEnv Awards.
SocEnv reported a huge amount of incredible entries this year, showcasing the many outstanding environmental professionals working hard to protect, preserve or enhance the environment. During the ceremony, SocEnv announced their winners and highly commended finalists for both awards and also recognised their newest Honorary Fellow for their huge contribution to sustainability. A showcase of expertise Focusing on this year’s World Environment Day theme of ‘Ending Plastic Pollution’, the panel of Chartered Environmentalists explored how plastic pollution can be addressed at a policy level, domestically and at international scale. SocEnv also wanted to showcase the great work being done in Liverpool, to give delegates an insight into local sustainability initiatives. They welcomed the incredible team from Mersey Rivers Trust to deliver a presentation to some of our morning delegates, detailing their work to clean up the rivers in the Mersey Catchment.
