CPD ContentThis session examines how the Building Safety Act is transforming the construction and regulatory landscape. It explores the evolving roles of dutyholders, the reshaped building control system, and the new processes for submitting applications. Attendees will gain insight into how recent reforms are influencing practice today and what they mean for the future of the building control profession. It also offers a chance to network with fellow professionals and members from across the region.
About The SpeakersChris MaslenSince 2012, Chris has been a Chartered Building Control Surveyor with experience in building regulation compliance. His expertise spans a wide range of complex projects, including healthcare facilities, high-rise residential buildings, educational institutions, and Ministry of Defence developments.
With significant knowledge of fire safety regulations and standards, including Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) modelling and Approved Documents B Volumes 1 and 2, Chris ensures adherence to stringent safety requirements. His qualifications include: Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), Associate Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers, LABC Level 6 Fire Safety Specialist accreditation, a Postgraduate Diploma in Building Surveying, and Registered Building Inspector (RBI) Levels 3H and 4.
Rebecca MorleyRebecca is a Fellow Chartered Building Engineer (CABE) and a specialist Registered Building Inspector with over 20 years of experience in the built environment. She specialises in high-risk and complex projects, including cladding removal on high-rise flats, modular offices, and large-scale industrial and residential developments. Her expertise in fire safety compliance and heritage conservation, combined with her experience with NHS healthcare premises and Ministry of Defence projects, ensures meticulous oversight and innovative solutions for diverse building challenges.
Rebecca’s qualifications include Fellow Chartered Member of CABE, CIOB Level 6 Certification in Managing Legislative Compliance, Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainable Construction Project Management, and Registered Building Inspector (RBI) Levels 3H and 4. Her dedication to sustainable construction and regulatory excellence reflects our commitment to creating safe and thriving built environments. Rebecca also has interests in education and school buildings and has extensive experience using the building bulletins design guidance.
