CABE Benevolent Fund: new initiative launched

In response to the UK government’s changes in autumn 2024 to the Winter Fuel Payment, the CABE Benevolent Fund is offering a new Heating Initiative.

Eligibility rules for pensioners receiving the once universal Winter Fuel Payment have been restricted since September 2024. To alleviate the resulting financial pressure for CABE Members, the Ben Fund has set up a new scheme open to applications from all members across the UK with at least two years of paid membership. 
Those individuals who meet the Heating Initiative criteria will be awarded a one-off grant of £500. This support can only be awarded to one CABE Member per household; dependants will not be included
at this time.

Scheme criteria:

• you must be a CABE Member with a minimum of two years of paid membership
• you must be aged 67 or over
• you must reside in the UK
• you must have previously received the Winter Fuel Payment and now, as a result of the September 2024 changes, no longer be eligible for that payment; and
• your annual household income (including benefits) is £25,000 or less.
