How do I apply?
To become a Chartered Environmentalist, you must:
- hold either Chartered Building Engineer (MCABE C.Build E) or Chartered Fellow (FCABE C.Build E)
- hold a master’s-level degree or have an equivalent level of skills, knowledge and understanding
- have four year’s relevant work experience; and
- provide evidence that you meet the Society for the Environment Competences for Chartered Environmentalists.

Step 2: Complete the application form
Once you have completed your application form, submit the form along with your CV, CPD record and personal development plan to the CABE Professional Review Team at socenv@cbuilde.com
The team will review your application, and if successful you will be invited to proceed to Step 3: Competency Review.
Step 3: Competency Review Application
Once you have successfully completed Step 2, CABE will send you the Competency Review Application to complete.
The Competency Review Application allows you to demonstrate how you meet the competencies for CEnv registration.
Once CABE has received your completed documents, these will be assessed by CABE SocEnv assessors before your application is progressed to Step 4: Application Outcomes.
Step 4: Professional Review Interview
You will be invited to attend a peer-led Professional Review Interview which will be used to further explore the competencies covered in your application.
The interview will be conducted remotely using online software.
If successful at the Professional Interview you will be awarded Chartered Environmentalist and registered with the Society for the Environment.
