EngineeringUK have published their new report of recommendations for UK government following the launch of foundation apprenticeships in England.

Called Pathways to success: shaping foundation apprenticeships in engineering and technology, the report "makes a series of recommendations designed to ensure foundation apprenticeships have the potential to become a viable pathway into engineering and technology careers for young people."

The first foundation apprenticeships were launched by Skills England on 1 August 2025, designed to tackle the skills shortages across the UK construction sector by opening up more training routes for young people into the industry. EngineeringUK has produced this advice for UK government to "ensure they truly work for employers and young people alike."
