Building Control Independent Panel call for evidence

05 August 2025
Posted by: Lauren Almey

The Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government within UK government has issued a call for evidence following the publication of the Building Control Independent Panel's Terms of Reference and 'problem statement'.

The introduction of the Panel earlier this year stems from government acceptance of a Grenfell Tower Inquiry recommendation, which asked for a review to be conducted in whether to change the delivery of building control across England. The Panel is playing an advisory and independent role to assist the UK government in this review and is likely to offer its first report back in autumn 2025.

This fresh call for evidence is to inform that report - the Panel are seeking views from building control bodies, developers, architects, fire and rescue services, dutyholders, clients and all those who engage with the building control profession. They also wish to incorporate responses from groups representing Grenfell survivors and bereaved, wider resident safety groups, and home buyers.
