The UK government have announced that five members have been appointed to the newly created Building Control Independent Panel. The introduction of the Panel stems from government acceptance of a Grenfell Tower Inquiry recommendation, which asked for a review to be conducted in whether to change the delivery of building control across England. The Panel will play an advisory and independent role to assist the UK government in this review and is likely to offer its first report back in autumn 2025. The five appointed members are: - Dame Judith Hackitt (Chair)
- Elaine Bailey
- Ken Rivers
- Rt Hon Nick Raynsford
- Dr David Snowball
For more information on the panel’s function and the professional backgrounds of the members, see the UK government’s news story here.
