
The CABE Built Environment Awards are a marker of industry standards, giving building engineers the recognition for excellence and ingenuity that they deserve. Considering sustainability, inclusivity, and societal impact, the Awards Panel assess submissions across a variety of criteria.
Winners are selected by the Awards Panel and presented with an award during the CABE Built Environment Awards Ceremony.

Young Building Engineer of the Year 2022

The Young Building Engineer of the Year award is an opportunity for Building Engineers to be recognised for their dedication to the construction industry, it shows how, by driving continuous improvement, they have had a positive impact on the industry and society.
This award gives us the opportunity to recognise the next generation of Building Engineers and highlight their dedication and drive for continuous improvement in the industry. The winner of 2022's award is Mikolaj Ogorek a Building Services Engineer apprentice who was nominated by his employer for his outstanding work. During the last year he has co-ordinated the building services across a complicated four site residential development for the London Borough of Hounslow. At only nineteen, he has proved to be diligent, collaborative, and extremely hard-working – a true future star of the construction industry.

Building Engineers are amongst the most competent professionals in the construction industry. The Building Engineer of the Year award shines a spotlight on their contributions and recognises their achievements.
The winner of 2022's award was presented to Muhammad Arkam Bin Che Nunaaim. Muhammad can be congratulated for the way he leads his team. Empowering them to bring out the best of himself and motivating them to do better. His recent work as developer on a competency assessment tool for construction personnel has changed the landscape of competency-based assessment in Malaysia. His work on the project has not just help to improve the competency of construction professionals it is enabling them to build more sustainable, better performing, and innovative buildings. This dedication to competency, something that is so deeply rooted into CABE’s values is why we are pleased to present Muhammad as year’s winner.
