The Welsh Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government, Jayne Bryant, has announced an extra £17 million in funding for the Transforming Towns budget 2025-26.

The aim is to support local authorities in implementing transformative regeneration projects across Wales.

The Transforming Towns programme is available to local authorities seeking to collaborate with partners to deliver regenerative projects, for example the ongoing city centre refurbishments happening in Wrexham.

As a result of this financial boost, the budget has increased to £57 million, every penny intended to increase employment opportunities, lift economic activity across the regions and breathe new life into Welsh high streets.
