Scottish Government open consultation on Community Right to Buy

The Scottish Government have released a public consultation document
on Community Right to Buy.

This legal power was originally introduced in Scotland in 2023 and meant that communities who identified a need for ownership of land or buildings could apply to register a ‘community interest’ in purchasing them. If successful, their application would give the community first option to buy if the earmarked land or building was put up for sale.

The aim of the consultation is essentially to review the Community Right to Buy process, using respondents’ viewpoints and experiences to help identify areas for improvement.
