Everything you need to know about the Society for the Environment (SocEnv), what they do and how to connect with them.

Who SocEnv is

SocEnv define the standards for professional competence in environmental practice, ensuring key decisions are made by verified professionals. Having received a Royal Charter in 2004, they license professional institutions, including CABE, to award the Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), Registered Environmental Practitioner (REnvP) and Registered Environmental Technician (REnvTech) professional registrations. There are now over 8,000 registered environmental professionals worldwide.

What SocEnv do

Just some of SocEnv’s activities include:
• ensuring the quality, relevance and awareness of their professional registrations in partnership with our Licensed Members
• championing the achievements of the CEnv, REnvP and REnvTech community via the SocEnv Awards
• bringing together registered professionals across sectors to collaborate. A notable example is the Soils and Stones project, which works to influence policymakers and facilitate the sharing of good practice re soil use and reuse
connecting education to professional registration: developing accessible educational routes to their registrations, with routes including apprenticeships, T Levels and more; and
• encouraging science-based climate action through their leading role in Pledge to Net Zero and the Professional Bodies Climate Action Charter.
