 David Taylor PPCABE FCABE
It is with sadness that I give notification on the passing of David Taylor, the 71st President of CABE, on 1 November 2024 following a long battle with cancer. David was at home with his wife Caroline and their daughters Jade and Ellen when he died peacefully.
Growing up in Nottingham, David’s career in the construction industry began whilst working for the National Coal Board (NCB), which gave him a flavour and appetite for technology and engineering. This led him to enrol on a Building Studies course and later progressed onto a BA Architectural Technology degree. Following a successful career within the NCB architectural department, he progressed into the healthcare sector, carrying out a variety of projects throughout the UK. In 1992, David set up his own architectural company which practised for over thirty years, both in the UK and overseas. He took his retirement from the construction industry in August 2023. David was an active member of both CABE and The Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT). David was passionate about promoting his profession and member organisations, reflected in his enthusiastic involvement within both professional bodies, serving as Eastern Regional Chairman for both CABE and CIAT as well as being President of CABE 2017−2019.
David and I walked different paths within the construction industry, but as CABE members and Past Presidents, we always had good banter when we were together, as well as more serious conversations around quality in construction, which he was such a flagbearer for.

All at CABE HQ would like to offer condolences to David’s family. He will be sorely missed.
