Fellow Chartered Building Engineer – FCABE Chartered Building Engineer

Fellow Chartered Building Engineer is the highest level of CABE membership and reflects the knowledge, expertise and experience of the industry’s most experienced professionals and a commitment to furthering the profession of building engineering.


To gain Chartered Fellow status, applicants must be able to demonstrate their senior professional expertise, or their level of seniority in the research and/or teaching of the arts and sciences within the built environment.


To achieve Fellow Chartered Building Engineer, you must demonstrate that you meet the competencies mapped out in the Chartered Building Engineer Competency Framework which requires you to demonstrate extensive technical and managerial competency. Please read the framework carefully to ensure this is the correct grade of membership for you. 

Fellowship is only awarded through approval via our Membership and Professional Standards Committee (MPSC)


Routes to Eligibility

  • Equivalent Membership:

Have an equivalent senior level membership of a recognised organisation.

  • Experience Route:

Be a Chartered Building Engineer for five years or more and working in a position of responsibility for at least five years, with three years' recorded CPD
