Scotland: Building Standards Certification Customer Survey out

04 March 2025

Group of workers onsiteThe Scottish Building Standards Futures Board has opened a survey of customers using certifications to gauge how the system is operating.

The survey also aims to garner feedback to help the Board work on future improvements.

The option of certification of design or construction of building work in Scotland was first introduced 20 years ago as part of the Building (Scotland) Act 2003. It was a means to show compliance with the Building (Scotland) Regulations 2004, allowing qualified professionals and competent tradespeople to certify that their work met these regulations.

Certification is now one of several workstreams being taken forward by the Futures Board to review and improve productivity, efficiency, competency and overall building safety; this survey and its findings will funnel directly into this ongoing work.

If you have experienced the certification process and wish to have your voice heard, take part in the online survey here.
