Engineer looking at horizon of buildingsThe GB Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have announced their plan to create a new Remediation Enforcement Unit within the Building Safety Regulator by summer 2025.

This new Unit will, as per a recent HSE ebulletin, hold to account owners of registered higher-risk buildings (HRBs) that are clad with combustible aluminium composite material and high-pressure laminate. This is to ensure the remediation of unsafe cladding, with enforcement measures to be
taken where necessary.

The creation of the Remediation Enforcement Unit is an element of the Remediation Acceleration Plan, announced by the UK government in December 2024.

Further detail will be released by HSE in due course, but for an overview of the government's action plan, see the policy paper on its website here.
