UK government release statement regarding departmental responsibility for fire

UK Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, has released a statement on the machinery of government.

The statement says that effective from 1 April 2025, the responsibility for fire will move from the Home Office to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. As per Starmer, this change is in response to one of the recommendations made in the Grenfell Inquiry Phase 2 Report, published in September 2024.
