CABE Past President Joseph Birt appointed as Chair of the Historic Buildings Council

The Department for Communities in Northern Ireland has announced that Joseph Birt PPCABE FCABE C.Build E has been appointed as the Chair of the Historic Buildings Council (HBC), as of 1 February 2025 til 31 January 2028.

Joseph BirtBirt was CABE President from 2022-2023 and has been a member since 2001. He is currently Technical Director at Fire Risk Solutions Northern Ireland (FRSNI) and has considerable experience of building conservation methods across the public and private sectors.

The HBC is an Advisory Non-Departmental Public Body sponsored by the Department for Communities, and its aim is to provide independent advice to the Department on listed buildings and preservation matters.

CABE would like to congratulate Joseph and wishes him all the best in his role with HBC.
