Guidance on Energy Calculation as a Service published by MHCLG

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) has published guidance on the calculator service it runs to provide access to the Home Energy Model.

Applicable to England and Wales, the Energy Calculation as a Service (ECaaS) provides an API (application programming interface) to the Home Energy Model so that users can produce software, and a basic frontend to validate building designs. The Home Energy Model is, as per the MHCLG, a methodology for predicting the energy performance of buildings for various future statutory purposes.

The guidance states that ECaaS will become the only valid means to confirm compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations when referring to the Future Homes Standard.
