B/559 Design of an Accessible and Inclusive Environment

08 January 2024

The Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI), working with the BSI Public Information Symbols Committee, have released a survey to gauge opinion on the proposal to change the international symbol for accessibility from the current symbol of a person sitting in a wheelchair.

The GAI would like to hear building engineer’s views on the proposed replacement symbol which is hoped will better represent people using a building and prevent individuals with non-visible disabilities being challenged when trying to access accessible facilities.

The survey is available on SurveyMonkey Potential replacement of international accessibility symbol Survey (surveymonkey.com)

Closing dates 19 January 2024.
