In the midst of alarming alerts, increased uncertainty, and a tonne of cabin fever, we would like to give some heart-warming updates on the generosity that is being shown by CABE members in this perplexing time.
One such gentleman is a CABE Fellow as well as an Emergency Response Volunteer with the Red Cross. Since the start of the COVID-19 lockdown, he has been working as a logistics volunteer, bringing shopping, medicine, and other items to those unable to leave their homes. Another CABE Fellow, is volunteering three nights a week to deliver blood, platelets, and samplesto local hospitals. One of CABE’s own, our archivist and formereditor of Building Engineer(from 2001-2019) has been volunteering with Milton Keynes council.
The NHS is in the process of setting up Nightingale “field hospitals” to help the influx of Coronavirus-related illness and we know that many CABE members have been involved in this project.
We have also heard from others who have kindly donated PPE to the NHS in this time of need.
CABE isproud of members, and those in the industry, who are taking this opportunity to serve their communities and would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who is volunteering, working and donating equipment during this emergency.
We’d also like to know who else has been offering their resources through either volunteering or donations, so if it’s you or someone you know, please tell us! You can either email us on firstname.lastname@example.org or tweet us using #CABEaide.
