COVID-19 Update: Self-employed

Dear members,

On Wednesday we e-mailed with an update on the latest government guidance regarding COVID-19 and working on construction sites.

In the e-mail we referred to the support package that was due to be announced to help self-employed workers in the UK.

We are now in a position to be able to report that the UK chancellor, Rishi Sunak, has unveiled an aid package for people who are self-employed, or a member of a partnership, and have lost income due to COVID-19

If you are self-employed you will be able to apply for a grant that is worth 80% of your average profits up to a maximum of £2,500 a month for the next 3 months and we strongly advise you to take a look at the government's website to see how this grant can help you. HMRC will contact those eligible for the scheme and invite you to apply online once the scheme is open.

At CABE we understand that this package of measures might not cover everyone’s individual circumstances, and we will endeavor to provide you with any further information, or clarification, as it comes to light.

Thank you for your continued support.
