Building Engineer gets a Big Nod of Approval

Last week we were thrilled to find out that our journal, Building Engineer, has been shortlisted for a Memcom Membership Excellence Award in the category: Best Magazine Launch or Relaunch. Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) featured amongst five other shortlisted print magazines, which is a great honour.

In October 2019, CABE underwent a company-wide rebrand, including the journal which has been published since 1926, notably continuing an uninterrupted run during the war years. Considering this journal is in its 94th year, it is easy to imagine its many iterations over the decades, and how excited we were to learn of our being shortlisted.

With our design and content being future-focused, it may bode us well to consider the very first article in Volume 1 of our journal, then called The Parthenon. In the first paragraph, the editor called attention to the needs of the “Members of the Allied Professions, Architects, Surveyors and Quantity Surveyors,” to contribute to the overall success of the journal, so that it may truly reflect the industry, and “provide the necessary medium for the exchange of ideas, the formulation of policies, [and] the discussion of technical matters.”

Just shy of 100 years later, we hope that our members find this still rings true as we spend our weeks compiling the highest quality information pertaining to all matters within the Built Environment. The look and flow of the journal is not just credited to the team at CABE, but also to Redactive, who have been integral to producing the journal that you have been reading for the past six months.

Over the next few months

Later in the year we hope to launch a website dedicated to Building Engineer along with a newsletter; allowing you to keep up-to-date with all the latest industry news, regulations and opinions that we know matter to you.
