This Webinar provided by Tom Reynolds of MES Building Solutions will look at the following:

The first part of the seminar will examine the contents of the current  Future Homes Standard consultation (running until the 10th January 2020). This covers the outline details of the Future Homes Standard, slated for introduction in 2025 and, more importantly, thegovernment’s plans for a new Part L to come into force in 2020.  This  covers the contents of the consultation in relation to Part L, the Future Homes Standard, Part F, whether planning authorities can set their own energy efficiency standards and any transitional arrangements that would apply. This consultation covers only new dwellings. How Parts L & F are to be updated in relation to commercial and existing buildings will be the subject of upcoming consultations.

In the second part of the seminar we’ll look at the Part L changes in more detail. These include major changes to the metrics used to assess compliance (no more FEES, for example) and a move in focus away from CO2 as the most important measure of building performance. We will use a number of examples of real building types and specifications to look at the impact the current Part L proposals will have on houses and flats. We will look in detail at some of the updated areas, such as air testing and the relationship between air tightness and Part F, thermal bridging and how different heating types will affect the overall performance.
